About

I'm Austin Schoeffler, an emergency medicine physician and Clinical Informatics Fellow at Stanford University. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, I've always been driven by a desire to combine clinical medicine with technology to make a meaningful impact on patient care.

My work sits at the intersection of emergency medicine, artificial intelligence, and healthcare innovation. I'm currently leading research on physician–AI teaming through an ARPA-H funded initiative and studying the impact of ambient AI scribes on clinical workflows with support from a Microsoft grant. Through the Stanford STEPP program, I evaluate and facilitate partnerships between AI companies and academic health systems.

Beyond clinical work and research, I advise early-stage digital health companies through Scrub Capital Collective and serve as informatics lead for the Stanford Resident Safety Council. I'm passionate about mentoring the next generation of physician-innovators and believe the future of healthcare lies in thoughtful integration of technology with clinical expertise.

Beyond Medicine

When I'm not in the ED or the lab, you'll find me on the golf course, skiing, hiking, or cooking up a pasta carbonara. I'm an Ohio State football fan (Go Bucks!), enjoy playing piano, and am currently trying to beat the latest release of Elden Ring.
